Learning System & Member Engagement Disruptors

Having over 3 decades working in disrupting online Association and Learning systems – we understand how status quo management can stymie the growth and efficiency of an organisation.

Our Team are passionate about leveraging human-centred learning design, innovation, and technology that puts you and your learner at the forefront of thinking.

We aim to create learning experiences that inspire professionals to sharpen their knowledge and secure their future.

Let us review, analyse and disrupt the way you are in order to bring new harmony to your systems.

Lloyd Grosse

Digital and systems engagement

Lloyd switched on his first professional computer in the mid 80s when he was operations manager for the LCSA – the peak body for neighbourhood centres in NSW. He was amongst the first to adopt technology in the community sector.

No surprise considering his passion for tech had already been ignited by his love of 80’s English new wave music. Having already developed his musical ear from the age of 3 it was natural for him to get deeply emersed in music tech. He bought his first Juno 106 and began writing music on Steinberg Pro 12 for the Commodore but moved quickly to Cubase on the Atari ST the minute it was released in 1989.

Music took a back seat in the 90s as the AIDS crisis gripped Sydney. Lloyd knew that his hybrid tech skills and creative approach to systems could help the cause. So he set about activism backed up with strong systems thinking. Some of his work highlights include deploying one of the first donor management systems for the AIDS Trust, advising PLWHA (people living with AIDS) on software to publish their magazine Talkabout, creating a client database for the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation, as well as building personnel systems to recruit over 80 staff in 6 months for ACON (the AIDS Council of NSW).

During this time he played a significant role on the NSW Ministerial Committee on AIDS, the Baume Report committee which helped transform the TGA (which was one of the reasons Australia was able to move quickly with COVID vaccines), and the Anti Discrimination Board’s HIV Group where we achieved legislation to ban workplace discrimination on the basis of HIV diagnosis.

Through his work in HIV he realised the power that Public Relations can have in creating real change. Which sparked a slight change of career and saw him open his own PR company – focused on HIV and in the gay and lesbian community (the first in Australia). He worked with Roche to launch the first Protease Inhibitor (Saquinavir) and the viral load test – two advances that changed the course of HIV – and saw the first glimmers of hope – which became the foundations for today’s success.

His revolutionary campaign for Roche Pharmaceuticals saw him correlate the radical way Saquinavir had been designed with the new emerging medical research tools on the very early Internet. The communication narrative linked the computer aided design of the active compound in Saquinavir with the emerging tech that was just being made available to HIV Doctors. During this time he wrote the first HIV Doctor’s Internet Guide and ran training sessions to demonstrate the power of medical searches and search engines. The program was so successful that he was invited to the 3rd International Conference on HIV/AIDS in the UK where he managed to wire the Roche Exhibition Stand up to high speed internet (no easy feat in this early stage of the WWW before WIFI) to power 5 computers that allowed him to demonstrate how Doctors could use the web to stay up to date on research developments.

Music was still a burning passion and in 1996 he returned to it as a DJ where again he used technology to mix and create. He also continued to work in Public Relations taking up a job at the PRIA (PR Institute of Australia) where he deployed a new integrated member management system and developed a new National webinar program – one of the first professional organisations to do so in Australia. He developed a love of professional learning – and soon returned to his training roots to devise workshops to help communication professionals understand the opportunities and risks that were emanating from the brand new social media world. He established and managed the PRIA’s social assets, and developed policy and engagement activities that saw the PRIA lead the social media space.

He headed up the secretariat of the PRIA’s National Education Committee where he helped develop a national level CPD program and oversaw the accreditation of University courses on communication.

From there he’s been headhunted by tech companies. His first foray was with Association Online where he spent 8 years as their chief business development manager. During this time Association Online developed a strong market share which started to push out the global leader. Who bought the product and him with it. For 3 years he worked with ASI as a Performance Improvement Leader – in their flagship Membership Engagement Management system – iMIS.

In more than a decade selling membership software he helped to transformed over 200 membership, professional and not for profit organisations – from Maths Teachers to Marina Managers – Banking to building, Jewellers to Elevated platform operators – the list is as diverse as the sector.

Most recently he was headhunted by the leading CPD software company in the building and construction industry – but COVID changed those plans and he is now offering his skills directly as a solution provider and tech consultant.

His hybrid tech experience and stubborn belief that anything is possible – you just have to figure out how – make him uniquely skilled to remix content, brand ideas & assets, and systems with education to deliver cleaver solutions to learning outcomes.

His latest endeavour sees him combine his talents with the teams at:

  • Building Networks NZ – New Zealand’s Leading Authority on Building Compliance)
  • Training Made Simple – a EduTech start up
  • Millpost Technologies – designers of fresh new AR/VR and 3D learning technologies
  • LearnWorlds – one of the world’s best an all-in-one platforms to Create, Sell & Market online courses and provide online training.

When it comes to systems that disrupt, perform, connect, and are engaging, Lloyd is the guy for the job.
